|JECRC Foundation stands for the freedom to explore scientific aptitude and for developing a mindset to use the power of science to make a positive contribution to lives. The Foundation's institute for applied sciences, MGIaS, is the first higher education institute recognised as a 'Centre with Potential for Excellence' by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan.
The institute is affiliated to the University of Rajasthan. Courses offered by MGIaS in Microbiology, Biotechnology and other branches of applied sciences help students to gain in-depth knowledge of the subject, and the real-life applications enhance their employability.
MGIaS offers 2-year postgraduate courses in various disciplines.

Admission to M.Sc Programmes
Entry requirement for the course is B.Sc with Chemistry/Botany/Zoology/Microbiology/ Biotechnology, with minimum aggregate of 55% (60% for candidates from outside Rajasthan). Admission is on the basis of merit in B.Sc. For admission into M.Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry and M.Sc Chemistry, candidate must have Chemistry as one of the subjects at the UG level.
MGIaS has 15 laboratories for subjects pursued in postgraduate programmes. These include:
- Sophisticated Instrumentation Laboratories
- Modern Automated Tissue Culture Laboratories and Growth Chambers
- Microbiological, Biochemical and Chemical Research Laboratories
MGIaS has a computer centre with 2 Mbps 1:1 leased line internet connection & multimedia facilities; helping students to use the power of the internet to discover the latest in their fields and sample the work of scholars. Students have access to a variety of mainstream PC software, including industry standard application packages, growing range of Windows-based software and discipline-specific software.
The library has a vast collection of books, journals, audio & video recordings, e-books and printed
reference works. It stocks books by Indian and foreign authors on various subjects. The library also subscribes to periodicals, research journals, newspapers and magazines.
To provide accommodation to outstation students, the institute has separate well-furnished hostel for boys and girls. It strives to ensure that the food and living conditions are wholesome.
There is an academic cooperation between MGIaS (JECRC Foundation) and Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), Germany. This provides opportunities for the mutual exchange of students and faculty between LUH, Germany and MGIaS. Some of our students have successfully completed summer schools and training at LUH. This year also three students will be going Germany to attend a DAAD summer school on Teaching and Research for Sustainability organized by Centre of Applied Biotechnology, LUH, Hannover.
DST Centre with Potential for Excellence
The institute, because of its interdisciplinary research activities, is being considered as the 'Centre with Potential for Excellence' by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of Rajasthan. It is for the first time that such recognition is being given by State DST to any educational institute. A three year research project on "Scientific Validation of Ethonomedicinal Plants of Tribal Areas of Rajasthan" has been approved by the expert committee of DST, Government of Rajasthan. The Centre is currently preparing ethanomedicinal herbarium, its scientific validation, a live documentary, marker general and fingerprints; and studying various bio-efficacious aspects including in situ conversation of tribal treasure of Rajasthan.
Most of the faculty members at MGIaS, 17 with Ph.D. degree, are engaged in active research, evidenced by publications in reputed national and international journals of Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences, every year.
Even the students are inspired by the research atmosphere at the institute. Several student research projects have been awarded to the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology of our institute by the State DST, Government of Rajasthan. All students of our institute carry out one to two months compulsory research project work at our campus laboratories. They are guided by expert faculty members in various fields of biotechnology such as plant, animal, environmental, medicinal, algal and microbial biotechnology.
Drug Research Lab
Therachem Research Medilab (India) Pvt Ltd, Jaipur is a full-service contract-based organisation of the JECRC Foundation that offers quality solutions to support drug discovery, development and large-scale manufacturing. Therachem is headquartered at Birmingham, Alabama, USA and is registered in the name of United Chem Resources, LLC.
Every year, around 50 students from Biotechnology, Pharma Chemistry and Chemistry departments of MGIaS are encouraged to carry out research and training work at Therachem. Students with exceptional talents are even given job offers after completing their degrees.
Training and Placement Cell
Emphasis is given on overall development of students and to accomplish this, the college has a separate Human Resource Development Cell, headed by qualified and experienced personnel. Its functions are:
- Designing programmes for academic excellence and overall development of students.
- Arranging faculty development programmes.
- Placement assistance and training to students in choosing the right career.
- Individual counseling of students to encourage them to join quality research at various institutions.
- Arranging practical training for students at various reputed national level institute/industries.
Our students have been selected by a number of reputed industries and institutions like Reliance Life Sciences, Dabu Onquest, Indian Immunologicals, Ahlcom parenterals, Mumbai and several other Pharma laboratories.
Our experienced faculty forms the assuring backbone of quality education that we deliver. Most of the faculty members have been associated with reputed institutions across the country and are members of various national & international scientific bodies. Most of them also hold Doctorates in their respective subjects.
Other faculty members are registered with eminent scientists and professors of reputed research institutes & universities, and are currently pursuing their Doctorate. Some of our faculty members have also been supervising research projects.
